Freshly Picked Moccasins

Photo: Juls Megill Photography

I posted a review of Freshly Picked Moccasins last march, which was 9 months ago. Now Ryder is 2, and he is MUCH MORE ACTIVE! Every person that meets my son comments about how much energy he has, and how he "runs" and doesn't "walk" anywhere.  So, I wanted to give you an update of our personal experience on how they have been holding up now that he is older.

In March we got the Prince George Freshly Picked Moccasins, and 9 months later they are still in great condition, no holes or rips, the leather looks great and they shockingly STILL FIT him! And, yes, he has grown a ton! If you look through my instagram feed you can see how much he has worn them for "proof". ;) He has gone through 3 sizes of TOMS during these past 9 months and his current size in TOMS is still difficult to shove his fat feet into. He hates when we try to put his feet in them, so I usually feel bad, give up, and put his moccs on. Ryder actually gets excited to put his moccs on, and gives them to me to put on his feet when we are hanging around the house. Our most recent moccs are Ebony, they are the most gorgeous black leather that can be dressed up or down and super durable leather for every day wear.

The colors that currently fit Ryder are Prince George (Royal blue), Weathered Brown (distressed brown) and Ebony (black). I think the tumbled/textured style leathers (ie: Prince George and Ebony)  hold up best for the older kids because they are made out of a thicker leather. The weathered brown is a little thinner leather, but they are "oh so soft". They are still my personal favorite because they match practically everything!

I know, I know… where can you get them!? Freshly Picked Moccasins used to only be available directly from Freshlypicked.com, but now they are also available at select Nordstrom stores! I just went to Nordstrom at South Coast Plaza and it was so fun being able to see them all on display in person! I honestly was in Mocc Heaven! I wish I could own them all! There were such fun colors!!! I especially LOVED "Glacier" in person, its AMAZING. It would be perfect for a boy or a girl. Thinking about them now makes me want to take the plunge. The price may seem a little steep for most people, but believe me, they are they worth every penny! They fit my son for 9 months and he is still wearing them comfortably. But who doesn't like a deal? Make sure to follow Freshly Picked on Instagram and they will notify you of new products and tell you when they are discounting certain colors! I just got Merci and Stone Suede for $45 each! Yay!

Now…..who wants to win a pair!? I'll post the details here and on Instagram tomorrow! :)

That floral baby sweater is TO DIE FOR! It is a million times better in real life. I am so tempted to buy it for my "if I ever have a girl" box.

Freshly Picked Moccasins

I'm so excited to share this post with you! I am such a fan of "Freshly Picked" moccasins. If you have never heard of them, you are in for a treat!

Freshly Picked is a brand of children's shoes that are hand-sewn in the US, and made out of high quality genuine leather. They have all sorts of colors, and recently launched their own signature "camouflage" print.  I have been following Freshly Picked on Instagram for almost 2 years now, and I can happily say I have been a fan since the beginning. Susan, the owner, was recently featured on the TV show "Shark Tank". Her story and success is very inspiring, especially to us "mompreteneur" type women out there.

Freshly Picked recently sent me a pair of the Prince George moccs (Named after Will & Kate's baby).  It is the perfect shade of blue, that goes with anything from denim to leggings to dress up clothing.

Whats so great about Freshly Picked Moccs? Oh, Let me tell ya...

  • They're ADORABLE!!!
  • They're Handmade
  • They fit FAT FEET! No cute shoes would fit my son, but these went on so easily!
    • They honestly take 2 seconds to get on with no struggle at all.
  • They're made out of soft leather that is comfortable on your child foot.
  • They have a soft sole:
    • Since they have a soft sole, their feet are able to feel the ground more naturally than a hard soled shoe. (Perfect when they start walking)
    • My pediatrician even raved about them, describing how soft soled shoes are much better for your child's foot development so they don't develop "flat feet". Since the leather forms to your child's foot, it is the closest they can get to bare feet.
      • Flat Feet (Wikipedia):
        • The appearance of flat feet is normal and common in infants, partly due to "baby fat" which masks the developing arch and partly because the arch has not yet fully developed. The human arch develops in infancy and early childhood as part of normal muscletendonligament and bone growth. Training of the feet, especially by foot gymnastics and going barefoot on varying terrain, can facilitate the formation of arches during childhood, with a developed arch occurring for most by the age of four to six years. Flat arches in children usually become proper arches and high arches while the child progresses through adolescence and into adulthood.
  • The elastic around the ankle makes it so they DON'T FALL OFF!!! (No more taking your child out of his/her stroller to discover one fell off along the way!)
*Tip: I spray my Moccs with Cadillac Leather Protectant spray. Its a water and stain-repellant shield. You can buy it here for $7 from Nordstrom.com. It tells you on the canister what type of leathers you can use it on, so make sure you read the warnings before you start spraying.
    **Just a personal recommendation.

Here are some pictures of my son in his "Weathered Brown" Freshly Picked moccasins, currently in stock! They are a great color, and go with EVERYTHING!

Clothes, Clothes, Clothes

Here are some outfit ideas for your little guy. The Man Cub shirt is one of my favorites! There's also a sweatshirt from the same company that says "mama bear". I think I need it! You also have to check out the TOMS website for the cordones. They are adorable! :)

Oh, and my new found obsession is Zara.com for babies. They have soft, great quality leggings for boys with cute prints! I got the cactus, lighting bolt, and paw print for Ryder. They are perfect for lounging around the house. We love being comfy!
